Bird & Wildlife SurveyOur grateful thanks to all of you who were able to take part in the two previous surveys , the results were published in the Hill and Dale magazine and were a fascinating record of the bird life in Ellisfield. At the recent AGM meeting of the Volunteer Group it was agreed that a 4th Annual Survey would be undertaken. As in previous years we intend to create a snapshot of the bird and wildlife in the village at a similar time as last year, so if you would like to take part please make a note of the birds and wildlife you see in the garden and surrounding area. Changes for the survey time. This year we would like to record the birds and wildlife seen over the weekend of 12th and 13th of April to get a broader view of the species seen at times during that time scale. By extending the time we hope that your observations will fit better with your other commitments, but you do not have to sit watching for the whole time, just jot down the birds and animals you see over the weekend. During the previous surveys a frequent comment is that birds, previously seen regularly, seem to disappear on the survey day, and then come back the next day. We cannot expect to count total numbers seen, but a list of the birds and other wildlife (e.g. deer, squirrels, etc.), perhaps with a guide to the frequency seen will be useful. Many thanks for your help Please return the form (a downloadable version follows if you can't find the one delivered with the Hill & Dale) to Seumas Foster (tel: 381443) at Northgate Cottage, Northgate Lane (3rd from last house on the road to Cliddesden), or it can be faxed to him on 381736. Alternatively, it can be given to any other committee member. Please return this sheet by the end of April. Thank you very much for your help, the results will be published in Hill and Dale for everyone to read.
