2009 Spring Show Schedule

 

Cliddesden, Farleigh Wallop & Ellisfield Horticultural Society

Saturday 28th March ELLISFIELD MEMORIAL HALL SPRING SHOW 2009

Remember you need to have paid your subs and get your entries submitted to any committee member by 6.00pm Wednesday 25th March

SECTION 1 – HORTICULTURAL

Judging for Horticultural Sections will be in accordance with R.H.S. Show Handbook revised 2008.

    Class                                                

  1. Daffodils, trumpet, Division 1, vase of 3 blooms.
  2. Daffodils, large-cupped, Division 2, vase of 3 blooms.
  3. Daffodils, small - cupped, Division 3, vase of 3 blooms.
  4. Daffodils, double, Division 4, vase of 3 blooms.
  5. Daffodils, any Division except 1, 2, 3, & 4, vase of 3 stems.
  6. Daffodils, 3 different stems from classes 1-5, each stem from a different class
  7. Tulips, vase of 3 blooms.
  8. Polyanthus, vase of 3 stems.
  9. Spring flowers not included in classes 1 to 7, (excluding shrubs), 3 stems.
  10. Shrub, flowering, one kind or mixed, vase of 3 stems.
  11. Flowering Pot Plant inc. bulbous plants. Pot diameter 30 cm maximum.
  12. Foliage Pot Plant. Pot diameter 30 cm. maximum.
  13. Succulent or Cactus Pot Plant. Pot diameter 30 cm. maximum.
  14. Leeks, 3.
  15. Rhubarb, natural grown, 3 sticks.
  16. Rhubarb, forced, 3 sticks.
  17. Any other vegetable, (refer to page 10 for points values) number optional, minimum of 2

SECTION 2 – DOMESTIC

Exhibits will be judged in accordance with the rules of  'WI On With the Show'.

Entries to be made from the exhibitor’s own recipe except where the class description states “Recipe supplied”, in which case the exhibit must be made using the supplied recipe.

Classes 20-23 must be presented in straight -sided, plain, non commercial jam jars not less than 1/2 lb. (227gm.). Jars must be clearly labelled, (label 3x1½ in maximum) and dated.

Classes 24 to 31 incl. must be placed in a clear food bag (NOT Clingfilm) or covered by a gateau cover provide by the Society.

Class

  1. Jar of jam (any fruit).
  2. Jar of marmalade.
  3. Jar of lemon, orange or lime curd. N.B. Date made on label; cellophane cover.
  4. Jar of chutney (vinegar type). N.B. Must have a non - metallic lid.
  5. Chocolate brownies,5 pieces, own recipe
  6. Cheese Scones,  plate of 5
  7. Bakewell tart, max. size 8" 200mm (recipe supplied)
  8. Shortbread 5 pieces cut with 3" round cutter (recipe supplied)
  9. Madeiracake,max size 8" 200mm
  10. Apple crumble own recipe
  11. White loaf 1lb. tin
  12. (MEN ONLY) Victoria Sandwich, Raspberry Jam7" tin18cm (recipe supplied)

 

SECTION 3 – ARTS & HANDICRAFT

Open to members whose interest in any class is for pleasure and not primarily as a means of livelihood. Exhibits must not have been entered in any previous society show. Articles in Class 42 may have been washed but not worn.

Class.

40.    A painting, maximum size A2, (594 x 420 mm.) 

41.    A drawing, maximum size A2, (594 x 420 mm.) - any medium except paint.

42.    Any article of needlecraft  

  1. Any handicraft not otherwise included above.

 

SECTION 4 – CHILDREN

Prizes           1st       £1.50   2nd      £1        3rd. 50p

Up to and including 6 years on day of show.

Class

50.    An arrangement of Spring Flowers in a jam jar

51.    Picture made of pasta and/or rice glued to a paper plate.

7 to 12 years inclusive on day of show.

Class 

  1. A collage cut from 2008 calendar supplied by society max size A3
  2. An arrangement of Spring flowers in own container.
