Clubs & SocietiesConsidering it has only 119 houses, Ellisfield has quite a vibrant village social life. In addition to the Church, the Memorial Hall Committee organised events" and The Fox Inn, there are five "organisations" open to all Ellisfield residents. There is a summary below, but more details are available by pressing the relevant menu button on the left of your screen. Bell RingersThe bells of St Martin's are reputably over 300 years old. Bellringing in Ellisfield is organised by Jenni Krauklis-Gould (tel : 381471) Good CompanionsEllisfield pensioners are regularly invited to lunch at one of a number of houses in the village. Horticultural SocietyShared with the nearby villages of Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop, the Horticultural Society has a very active membership. There are monthly meetings, garden visits and shows. Ladies ClubMeetings are once a month, sometimes at the Memorial Hall and often out at local (and sometimes not so local) attractions, such as the theatre, restuarants, boat trips, etc., etc. The Ladies Club also organise special events such as Christmas Carols and entertainment evenings. Volunteer GroupAs well as being under contract from the Parish Council to maintain Lower Common, Gravel Pits and the Burial Ground, the Group also does unpaid conservation work such as the maintenance of the village's Rights of Way, installation of Barn Owl boxes, Bird Surveys, etc. Further information can be found by pressing here. |
